Mostly, yes.

I was looking at master.

Nope, GitHub will not render your HTML files, you would need to use GitHub pages or Read the Docs.

BTW I don't recommend keeping the _build dir in git anyway.

Well, that was my original idea, not to include that directory, but then I realised I might want to link the documentation without using RtD. Anyway, doesn't matter.
