I'm guessing your R installation is configured with nonstandard C/C++ compilation flags. Is there a ~/.R/Makevars file?
I have inspected that path and I don't have the directory or the file
Can you post more of the compile log, including the compile flags for the failed step? I'm unable to reproduce your failure on any machine I have access to.
If one of the flags is "-march=native", can you also post or send me the output of running "<name of C++ compiler used by R> -march=native -Q --help=target" on the command line?
The command gcc -march=native -Q --help=target
The output

That is super-weird: no Intel or AMD processor should have -mavx2 without -mbmi. What is the output of "cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep 'name' | uniq"?
model name : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz
Thanks. It looks like -march=native can indeed misdetect processor features on a VM.
I've tried to address this with commit 43e41bc ; can you check if install_github works now?
This works!
Thank you so much
I am trying to install the cindex from r using the command
install_github("chrchang/plink-ng", subdir="/2.0/cindex")
but I am running to this error below;OS Ubuntu 18.04 R version 3.6.3
Assistance with this error will be appreciated
