Evaluate "Email crawling" idea #12

This thread will evaluate the idea of crawling emails (or any such messaging service [etc. IM, texts, forum posts]), to gain semantic understanding.

Several features can be built on top of this semantic understanding, including automatic categorization, and summarization.

1.) how well do you know the world of natural language processing tools like this one? are there other existing tools which are similar?

2.) how do you define natural language processing? how is it different than other processing, and what tools might already exist?
