Channels seem to lose mapping after server restart #818

Unclear if this is just me, but in my Plex / Tunarr DVR, after I do a version upgrade all of the channels lose their mapping. I have auto channel / guide updating disabled.

just wanted to confirm that i did not experience this issue. watchtower handled my weekly updates last night and i went from 12.0 to 12.3 and my channels are still mapped. i have auto channel updating disabled as that was causing me to lose channel mappings constantly, but i have guide updating enabled.

a few other settings i have that deviate from default are as follows

EPG (hours): 24 refresh timer (hours): 4 HDHR tuner count: 1

within plex > live tv & dvr > dvr settings > guide refresh interval > 4 hours

doubt it matters, but i have 6 channels. if you have a ton of a channels perhaps that could be an issue.

Hmmm ok, that's a good data point. I find that I frequently find my DVR in a state like this (this is a test instance that is connected to my auto-updating edge Tunarr build on my server)

i assume you meant updating tunarr correct? not updating plex? because this past week plex did not get updated, only tunarr. plex is currently on 1.41.0.8994.

this is what mine look like. i haven't had to touch them for a couple weeks now. i also did a full server reboot yesterday which included plex and tunarr, and had no issues with mappings.

maybe try lowering the tuner count to 1? i did that specifically to troubleshoot losing my channel mappings, although that didn't turn out to be the problem, it was auto-updating mappings being enabled causing the issue. but my theory was plex might be trying to switch between the two.

are you using plex request cache, on-demand or stealth mode?

well i awoke this morning to my weekly watchtower updates and found tunarr upgraded from 12.3 to 12.4 and my channel mappings were wiped. i hadn't changed any settings from last weeks update. perhaps it's a plex thing? i don't recall this happening with dizquetv at all though. strange. are there any logs i can gather to help? i have my watchtower updates scheduled at the same time every week so i should be able to pull logs from either plex or tunarr at those exact times to hopefully find out what happened. i'll dig into this tomorrow and let you know.

if it helps, i also noticed my EPG channel names have changed slightly. see my previous screenshot last week compared to this week. perhaps that change is what's causing the disruption.

chrisbenincasa commented 1 week ago

Ah yes this change is definitely expected (it is meant as a workaround / fix for https://github.com/chrisbenincasa/tunarr/issues/692) but it isn't expected to be on the 0.12.x line. I marked that change as a breaking change and it should only be included in 0.13.0, which I haven't released yet

getting the same issue also

I actually just saw somebody mentioning something similar in the DTV discord, I think (assuming it's the same). Maybe a plex issue? I'll have to dig in and see if I can trigger it
