Is there a significant performance boost from cleaning XML in this way?

Hi Chris, I' ve rebased the commits on the new master HEAD so github merging should be easy-peasy again :)

It's not so much a performance boost, but about collaboration convenience (truly inconvenient to submit PRs when an XML file gets tabs transformed to spaces, trailing whitespaces removed along with that one-little-line that should be the only thing you touched when the defacto standard is to have the editor configured to do those things on save)

PS: really nice simple skin. If I were LG/Samsung/Philips/etc, I'd hire you to replace those bloated useless utterly-UX-murderer TV GUIs :) I've already made a donation to Kodi, mc2xml. You'd be next on the list, if you decide to go for it
