Any suggestion Chris?

chrisbevan commented 9 years ago

It's difficult to pin down the problem to be honest wilderkaiser. A log file would really help. Off the top of my head, your Artist slideshow plugin might need configuring (something I can't do from the skin), or it might simply be the case that the currently playing artist doesn't have any slides...

It might help to give you a picture of how i've integrated it into the skin:

Another thing.. Check in the configuration of the Artist Slideshow plugin that 'image priority' is set to 'use remote images first'.

Welcome to the wonderful world of open source dependencies!

Chris - thanks for the reply! OK lets have a deeper look to this- Working here on several Kodis .. WIN64 (4.0) - OE on NUC X86 & X64 (5.0.0) and my little Raspy with OE 5.00. On all devices same configuration as recommended but also tried out with other setting .. Still without having a Slideshow autostart (4 times pressing back on remote and everything is running fine. Visualisations are disabled.

As you can see in Kodi.log line 4842 (10:13:20 T:2401278784 NOTICE: [Artist Slideshow] script version 1.8.2 started) that it should work ? But after enabling debug logging in AS addon there are no more entries ... ?! Here the log http://ge.tt/7BsCUz82/v/0?c

Let me know if i can figure out anything to solve this here ...

uuhh HA - same issue with confluence (new log here) seems to be a kodi problem ... http://ge.tt/5SjoWz82/v/0?c

wilderkaiser commented 9 years ago

OMG found this here: 3.2 Using Artist Slideshow with the default Confluence Skin Change Default Skin Files This is probably the easiest way, but anytime you upgrade or reinstall XBMC you will have to redo these modifications. Go to the Kodi installation root folder (see this wiki page under special://xbmc for the path for your operating system). Then go to addons --> skin.confluence. Quit Kodi, modify the appropriate files, and then start up Kodi again. Create Custom Skin This is a bit more complicated but will keep your modifications intact across upgrades. Go to the directory above, enter the addon directory and find the skin.confluence folder. Make a copy of it and move it to your user addon directory. Operating system settings folder paths Android Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/files/.xbmc/addons iOS - Varied /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/XBMC/addons Linux $HOME/.xbmc/addons/ Mac OS X /Users//Library/Application Support/XBMC/addons Windows 7 Users\%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\addons Windows XP Documents and Settings\%userprofile%\Application Data\XBMC\addons Rename the directory to skin.confluence.mod. In that directory open the file called addon.xml. Change the third line to read id="skin.confluence.mod" and then launch (or relaunch Kodi). Go to SYSTEM --> APPEARANCE --> SKIN and switch to the modified skin. When you do that you will lose all your current skin settings, so you might want to write them down before changing. Quit Kodi again, modify the appropriate files, and then start up Kodi again.

Sorry for the delay there. Nothing in that page helps pin this down i'm afraid. I'm doing everything it asks!

Looks like Confluence doesn't support AS out of the box. Looks like xTV-SAF does though, so that might be worth a try?

Another thing.. I'm assuming your music collection is all scanned into the Kodi library (i.e. not in 'files' mode)??

wilderkaiser commented 9 years ago

dont worry ... is AS in generally working (better autostarting) on your kodi/helix installation?

yeh i tried out all this instructions witout having it sucessfull auto startet :-(

xTV-SAF is outdated .. helix here and yes ... have everything in library ... how to go on ... i think you contact the developer here:?? http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=124880&page=87

chrisbevan commented 9 years ago

Yes - AS confirmed as working / autostarting on both my OpenElec 5 and OSX Kodi Helix installations.

The plot thickens... Best to contact the developer an email and get him / her to test with Maximinimalism. Sorry i've not managed to track this one down for you!

wilderkaiser commented 9 years ago

OMG .. what a night :-) Made a fresh System on Win X86 with a clean Helix .. Still nothing does ... So i played around and ... XF1080 does ist :-) There are some settings to "adjust" AS ... after enabling "Automatically switch to music visualisation upon play" AS starts in less then 1 sec after playing a song. From my point of view ... could this be implemented to force AS startup? screenshot028

wilderkaiser commented 9 years ago

Hi again ... the author has checked this out and this is his answer:

The log shows AS is running and downloading art as I would expect. I even see where it is telling the skin where the folder is. AS isn't responsible for actually showing the images, just telling the skin where it is. So from what I can tell AS is working fine. If you're having a problem with images not showing, you may need to contact the skin developer.

Any idea Chris?

chrisbevan commented 9 years ago

OK.. Good to have that confirmation from the AS developer.

There's perhaps something really obvious to ask, and it might be that i've misinterpreted your problem from the start.. The AS slideshow will only ever appear on the 'now playing' screen in the music section. When you start playing a track, the 'now playing' screen will automatically start after maybe 30 seconds. However, you can go to that screen immediately by selecting 'now playing' in the left hand menu.

So just to be absolutely sure.. Does AS not work at all in the 'now playing' screen?

wilderkaiser commented 9 years ago

OK checked this out again to be shure absolutly. Pressing "now playing" is starting AS! Success. But nothing happend after waiting 30 sec or longer. Hopfully i did discribe my "Autostart" problem in a right way .. Sorry if not!

Did you think about a function " Force AS upon play" (maybe with a control to adjust time/delay) for startup - because i think that 30 sec is a lomg time .. too long ...

wilderkaiser commented 9 years ago

Any news to that issue chris ?

chrisbevan commented 9 years ago

Sorry - been busy recently. Will take a look later this week.

Quick question - is the crossbox a Kodi-based HTPC? Looks like a very nice piece of design!

wilderkaiser commented 9 years ago

Quick Answer - yep Kodi based ... the little one is is a NUC ... without fan (aluminium monocoque) and SSD inside ... your Max is as a default on board ...

chrisbevan commented 9 years ago

Fantastic!

Leave this with me. I should have some free time later in the week to get this fixed up for you.

wilderkaiser commented 9 years ago

Youre welcome Chris! Thanks for getting back in touch! ... by the way ... have some "ideas" around Max ... but I do not want to get too close to criticize your wonderful work .. interested ?

chrisbevan commented 9 years ago

Sure, i'd be happy to hear / discuss your ideas. Please do send them through.

Have to sign off for today now i'm afraid. Will be checking mail later this evening.

Chris.

Morning!

... just an idea after surfing around, couldn't this be a solution? (music fullscreen on play)?

http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=114822&pid=1473763#pid1473763

Maybe this is also the way to "Automatically switch to music visualisation upon play" in 1080xf?

chrisbevan commented 9 years ago

Thanks - that ought to do it (clever boy that 'Black). I'll find some time this evening to try it out.

Chris.

:-) youre welcome!

wilderkaiser commented 9 years ago

one more thing: in skin settings i can set the "music fanart location" ... what is behind this? Has this to do with AS? same for video fanart location

chrisbevan commented 9 years ago

OK, a new skin option for autostarting fullscreen mode on music playback is now on my GitHub. I also added a fix to shut down the fullscreen mode when music playback is stopped.

The skin settings for music / video / games fanart location are totally separate to AS. If a user has a collection of video / music / games fanart on their system somewhere, they can use them as the skin background. Music fanarts are shown in the music section, video fanart is used everywhere else. Games fanart will eventually be used in the games section (when the retroplayer part of Kodi is finished).

Set the directories, then turn 'enable global fanart' on if you want to test.

wilderkaiser commented 9 years ago

YEAH! Thats it. Already installed this and everything works as expected. Great feature - hope that others also appreciate your work! Thanks also for explaining the Fanart feature ...

chrisbevan commented 9 years ago

No problem!
