This is a known problem, and a consequence of the choice of the MIT Licence. The positive side of it is people can make forks that add worthwhile functionality; the negative side is... this. Simon chose that licence for the upstream project, and I could theoretically have changed it to a compatible one, but did not, and I think doing so now wouldn't be worth it (it would only cover future changes). I have found that with other clones from other developers, users have left helpful reviews calling out the situation.
Hi @chrisboyle
Please have a look at this "developper" on the Play Store, and the different apps he propose: https://play.google.com/store/apps/dev?id=8271098323873433166
What do you think about this? As I understand, the licence of this repo allows it, but I find this source code theft very disgusting...
By the way, there are other copies of your app on the Store that doesn't mention the fact that they derive from an open source/free software, like this one, this one, this one, this one, this one or this one, from the same "developper"...
