Unable to install and get it working #2

I have followed the steps mentioned in the Installation document.

I ran the .sql script directly and renamed necessary files. When I visit the browser and type http://localhost/eflinventory-v2 OR http://localhost/eflinventory-v2/public, nothing shows up. Its a 500 Internal Server Error. The DB works just fine.

I am new to Laravel. I later from terminal ran php artisan serve. And again, using the same URLs in the browser give me 500 Internal Server Error. Could you please help?

You don't seem to have your application key. Quit the application if you are running it with artisan serve. Next, run: php artisan key:generate to generate your application key. Run the application again

chrisidakwo commented 5 years ago

By the way, accessing a laravel project like this: http://localhost/eflinventory-v2 OR http://localhost/eflinventory-v2/public doesn't work fine, except you can write a customer script to handle requests using that format. I'd suggest running the php artisan serve command from your Terminal or Command Prompt.

Hello Im having the same prob and when i run php artisan key:generate Im having this error: [ErrorException] file_get_contents(C:\wamp64\www\EFL\eflinventory-v2/.env): failed to open stream: No such file or directory Can you please Help

chrisidakwo commented 5 years ago

@Elyaho you need to create a .env file. You can get the content of the env file from the existing .env.example. If you're using a UNIX system, you can easily run: cp .env.example .env and it will copy the .env.example file into a new .env file. After this, you can now run php artisan key:generate.

Let me know how this goes. In the other case, what other error did you encounter?
