Live-USB on a MSI Wind #18

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Make a usb-stick with UNetBootin
2. Bootup, kernel loads
3. Hangs on the bootscreen with the cute android. No sign of CPU working

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Would like to boot into the GUI.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

MSI Wind U100
Android Live 0.2
USB-stick made on windows 7 with UNetBootin

Please provide any additional information below.

Same problem. MSI Wind U100. Burned Android Live 0.2 CD on Mac. Used USB CD/DVD
burner to attempt to boot. Boot process stops at cute android screen. This USB
CD/DVD
burner will boot a Fedora live CD on the same MSI Wind computer.

Same problem. stucked at cute "Live Android" starting screen. Tho at startup it
stops
at line what says "Clocksuorce tsc unstable (delta = -102479088 ns)"

Its after i set the VGA= boot options from 788 (800x600x16bit) to 789
(800x600x24bit)
so i can see some info at last.

Dunno its unstable clocksource thing affect the boot or not. i think ye but im
not
expert.

I have the same symptoms on my MSI Wind U100. I'm not sure the clocksource is
the
primary issue, but it should be resolved.
FYI: TSC Unstable clock source is a result of Atom's SpeedStepping feature, and
is
generally remedied by setting clocksource=acpi_pm in linux distros...I'm not
sure if
this is an option in android, however.
Can we have a flag that disables the splash screen for debug purposes?

A flag to disable the bootscreen would be really helpful! Since i cannot seem
to boot
in verbose modus in any way... :(

I just have the same problem as yours, the system just stucked at the
bootscreeen, i
have nothing to do but Ctrl-Alt-Del to reboot. The system is
liveandroidv0.2usb,
used UNetBootin to build the bootable usb storage. My netbook is MSI U100.

Experiencing the same issues as above with Msi U100. Boots until it reaches the
splash screen and then hangs with live android screen.

Used Unetbootin to create the flash drive.

Hi folks, can we debug this issue somehow, I'm happy to help, but not sure how?

I tried these in the BIOS: toggling USB drive mode options (Auto, forced FDD,
Hard Disk), enabling/disabling the AHCI Mode, and also turning off Intel
SpeedStep.

I have the U100 Plus, and I only get to "Grub Loading Stage2.."

I prepped the USB disk with: zcat android-x86-1.6-r2_usb.img.gz | dd of=/dev/sdc
