Mika will serve as a first-time go through for understanding statistics. Strides made here will set the journey for other players.

• clean the data

• split the data into sensible manners (by season, by team played, etc.)

• perform preliminary EDA. develop a workflow to be repeated.

Feedback appreciated on mika zibanejad file and opposing_team_average_percentage() function. Next idea is to play around with violin plots and observe distributed percentages of statistics across years. Another idea is to look into comparable subplots (side by side) for different statistics, such as time on ice and actual shots made over time.

An idea for bettering the plot is to add different sort options for then user to specify on percentages. A few aesthetic problems and bugs noticed:

• leaving year null (as intended) fails the function. It should still work if year is null.
• wish there was a better way to choose optimal color packages.
• am not happy with what happens to the graph when more than 3 percentages are inputted into the opposing_team_average_percentage() function. It's too closed and narrow
• will explore the option to plot the data from a top down approach with sorting options
• this function will serve as inspiration for non-percentage based statistics
• this is better to make as a class with a more fleshed out UI (asking for user input messages)
• might want to include a way to change the background plot color
• want to also include a division specification. might need some feature engineering scripting file to be made to fix the data files (or use a parquet file as Jakov suggests).
