I'm confused... This "case" shows a problem, so I wouldn't merge it. Ideally behavior would be changed and the "case" could be tweaked accordingly

You're appropriately confused :)

This whole repo thing is just a recent experiment anyway, but it's primary purpose is to have specific executable cases we can all refer to w/o having to work with the entire Bundler codebase.

So ... yeah, at the moment it recreates the problem and the goal is to fix up Bundler at some point soon here.
