I think it's a #bug that the toolbar is on top of the note's content. Since it's non-transparent, but grey, I can't see what's behind, which frequently annoys me. Furthermore you can't click the tags and reminder button like this.

I agree, this is a good improvement. Thank you for the pull request!

While testing, I also noticed that Google's tip/alert was showing behind the footer toolbar, so I fixed that as well (at least for the tip I was able to reproduce).

1.0.1 has been published with both fixes and should be available soon. I hope to work on more improvements very soon.
