With Home Assistant now supporting Bluetooth natively. Have you given any thought to removing MQTT? This integration works well if you only have one Bluetooth device.

To be honest, I haven't given this code any thought in quite a while.

The quick and dirty workaround to the single device limitation is to use a second Bluetooth adapter.

I've never written a custom HA component so I'm not sure how much work would actually be involved.
