What is the desired behaviour?
Setting up a JCR repository from scratch if you don't know Linux, Tomcat, or
Jackrabbit, is fairly complex and must be a good days work. So the idea was
that we would offer a VMware (or VirtualBox, or Hyper-V) image for download
from our website, and all you would have to do is start it up, leave it to DHCP
an IP address, and then go to http://dhcp_address/ where you would
automatically see a "welcome to JCR" screen, and then links to both the
Jackrabbit admin pages, and to an instance of our JCR Explorer app. And
possibly some sample data in there to illustrate how a JCR repository can be
used.
What, if it is not clear, is the main benefit of this feature?
This would allow people to very quickly download and evaluate JCR and to have a
play with the technology and see what it was capable of.
How might this be tested and proved to be operational?
The main effort is in the initial dataset and "easy-to-use" features. Also need
to check about licensing restriction for the virtual image.
