RetroArch Version Updates??? #381

Closed beatlesdbp closed 3 years ago

ArkOS 1.7 currently has RetroArch 1.9.2. A few days ago RetroArch released version 1.9.3. Is there a way for us to manually upgrade RetroArch from 1.9.2 to 1.9.3, or is this something you would release in a future firmware update?

I read online that RetroArch is planning to release more updates a lot quicker, will we be able to update RetroArch ourselves, or will this be something that only you as the developer can do through firmware updates?

If you have the know how to build retroarch, you can build it and add the updated binaries to /opt/retroarch/bin folder. I don't plan to update retroarch as often as released unless there's some kind of benefit to this platform. In reading the changelog, there's nothing in 1.9.3 that benefits this platform. I will wait for the next version to see if there are any updates that benefits this platform and will wait to ensure that there are no regressions like broken netplay as experienced in 1.9.0.
