Comment doesn’t post #655

Open ghost opened 4 years ago

ghost commented 4 years ago

Describe the bug When writing comments, after I press post, I get no haptic feedback and the comment seems to just disappear even if I reload the thread, and it doesn’t save.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. I enter a thread
  2. I reply to a comment
  3. I press post
  4. Comment not posted and not saved

iOS version: 13.3 Apollo version: 1.7.3 iOS device: iPhone 8 Jailbroken: No jailbreak Reproducible: Random

Expected behavior My comment posting.

Video Happens randomly and I haven’t captured it on video yet.

Just happened to me for a second time this week (that I noticed). Some more details:

iOS version: 13.1.3 Apollo version: 1.7.4 iOS device: iPad Pro 11” 2018 Jailbroken: No jailbreak Reproducible: Random

Both times it was for longer comments that took significant time to write (very aggravating to lose) and involved task switching during the writing process. However, just this is not enough to reproduce the issue.

When it happens, after tapping “post”, the comment box disappears but no “comment posted!” notification shows and the page remains static.

This most recent time, I attempted to force close the app after refreshing my comment history and seeing that it didn’t show up like the last time I saw this happen. Force quitting immediately after that does not bring up the “recovered text” dialog on relaunch and going back to the comment and replying again doesn’t recover the lost text either.

Is there a way to obtain a log file for this event or if it happens again? I didn’t have “share app analytics” on for these incidents but have turned it on going forward.

Edit: It turns out I do have crash reporting and analytics on in the Apollo app itself, I was referring to the system wide app analytics in the privacy settings. I also found the crash reporting log dump and will email that referencing this post.

Hi I have the same problem as well, also for comments I’ve spent a lot of time on writing (20mins+) but it’s not consistent for every instance. I don’t exit the app during that time while typing. Weirdly enough this problem has only cropped up after having purchased Pro days ago. I’ll see if I can find the log for this too (edit: see attached below. It has happened basically everyday iirc so here's all the logs I have)

Edit: here’s my details iOS version: 13.4.1 Apollo version: 1.7.4 iOS device: iPhone XR Jailbroken: No jailbreak Reproducible: Random

I’m having the exact same issue as the above posters. Its been happening for maybe 4-5 weeks? Nothing really to add about the behavior, but here are my device details:

iOS version: 13.4.1 Apollo version: 1.7.4 iOS device: iPhone 11 Pro Max Jailbroken: No jailbreak Reproducible: Random

Edit: after paying closer attention for a week or so, I’m thinking it’s possible that the trigger for this bug could be minimizing Apollo to the background while the Compose Comment window is open. For example, if you start composing a comment, then switch to the Wikipedia app to look at some reference information, then come back, finish your comment, and hit Send, there is a possibility (or a certainty?) the comment will be lost to the Reddit gods.

I’ll do some more testing and report back if I can reproduce this with any reliability.

I’m having the issue as well on short and long comments.

I am also having this problem. It started just in the last few days for me, but I’ve been pretty inactive on reddit since before the last update. It doesn’t matter if it’s a long or a short comment and it also happens randomly, but it has happened about 6 or 7 times now in the last few days. Very offputting to take time to respond to someone and it just vanishes, then I have to decide if the effort of retyping everything is worth it.

I have an iPhone X, iOS 13.3, latest Apollo update, and no jailbreak. Reproduction is random.

Happens to me about half the time I try to post something right now on the latest update. It’s extremely frustrating. I guess I’ll just start copying my post beforehand. I’ve lost some pretty long comments to this bug.
