@christianwgd I think this is the bare minimum for accessing both local and remote repos. I'm sure you want to keep your project as simple and clean as possible, so please feel free to give advices on how to adjust this PR and/or reject it.

If however we can share some efforts, I have in mind a couple of improvements to discuss with you; my main objective would be that of having a quick glance of all recent backup activities, to check "visually" that everything is proceeding as expected

Looks good, a short test showed, that things worked for me like before.
