About the importance of theme, it would be great if everyone think of what meaning you want the game to have. Like a deep meaning and a central message. (can be your vision of how the world works, your philosophy of life, etc.)

Personally I came up with a theme about "Belief/Faith" because we were discussing how the god will be consuming people believes to regain their power.

So the theme that I'm suggesting would be something like "People thoughts/minds/believes are strong enough to change reality."

..the force that we can use might be "will power" those who have strong belief will be powerful especially those who have strong heart (not sway easily by external influence)

The thing that is interesting about belief is that it relates strongly to behavior. Cognitive- Behavioral therapy is widely being used to modify people behavior and it works by modifying people thoughts in order to change their behavior, to change their lives.

Every virtues always surrounded by 2 vices, excess and deficiency. In this case would be over-believing in something without effective judgement and another is extremely skeptic that it harms the person to the point that there is no stability in life. These idea can be used for the antagonists.
