Research a different method of making backgrounds #54

Research the possibility of making backgrounds by taking pictures of real locations and using Photoshop to make them look like they were drawn.

If this is possible, it would save us a lot of time (especially for Wan).

Whoever researches this task should also be able to produce a demo of a background image if proven possible.

yeah i might take this research task, but i don't think i can finish it for this sprint. pretty busy this week.

I talked it over with Wan, and we think it's better if we actually find someone to do the backgrounds job for us. As I mentioned last Skype meeting, although Photoshop can turn real photos into drawings, with the research I did I could not find a good example for turning photos into an anime-style background. I found a lot of turning it into a sketch or a painting, but none like an anime. Plus you'd have to be very skilled at photoshop to make it look good in any case, which I'm not good at.

There is also the option of using Illustrator. It's better than Photoshop by quite a bit, although the problem is that there still needs to be a certain amount of drawing involved, to touch up the photos. The problem I found with Photoshop was that it was difficult to touch up photos, so this solves it. It will still take a lot of time though, and someone who's got decent art skills will have to be the one in charge of it.

I'll attach files that show an example of what you can do with Illustrator, although mind you this is done by someone who is quite skilled with Illustrator and they had to touch up a lot. The other problem is that they don't really have very many good tutorials on how to use Photoshop to turn things into drawings (a lot on sketches, but they're not what we are looking for, I feel).

In any case, if we still wanna try this route, maybe someone else can have a go at the research and maybe find something I didn't find. Sorry and thanks! real life photo animated version

Most likely going to put Charlotte in charge of making backgrounds for us now that she's joined. Closing issue.
