European-style hand written "1" #210

Thanks for the great book. One issue I had was with some of your hand drawn figures. Several of them contained what looked to me like a caret symbol, "^". I puzzled and puzzled and ultimately gave up on the figure with cats and apartment buildings. Later, in the SHAP chapter, I came across it again and I think I decoded it as a European-style "1". If I am correct, and if you want American readers to understand your figures, I suggest replacing these with digits that look like the printed symbol "1" -- i.e. very short on the left side and long vertical on the right.

It's been a long time since I posted my comment but I believe this image was one of the issues. The mark below the tree is not obviously a checkmark to me. It looked like a V or a logical "or" since the two sides have very similar lengths. Perhaps the European glyph is different from the American?

Not a European thing, just an unusual checkmark. Thanks for your feedback, I wasn't aware it might be difficult to read!
