I was quite busy in the past few days, but I will post here the summary of our meeting and the next things that need to be done in the next weeks. It should be done by the end of the week!

Quick summary of the meetings we had so far.

2023-09-28 With Lizzie and @FrederikBaumgarten We discussed projects that Fredi suggested and we came up with a «compromise» between two of the three. The main experiment will be on growing season extension and the tree's capacity to use these few extra days for next year's growth. 4 different treatments will be conducted (I will create a figure to summarize this):

  1. Spring warming
  2. Spring and Fall warming
  3. Fall warming
  4. Control

The second experiment will be on nutrient boost at the end of the growing season.

2023-10-19 With Freddi We discussed tree ordering and the moment we think would be best for the start of the treatments. We decided to submit the warming treatment before leaf out. Therefore, we believe that the ideal timing for the start of this treatment should be around April 1st. At this time, treatment trees will be moved to the climate chambers and the controls will remain outside in the greenhouse (TBD // should we keep them in cooling chambers?). In any case, all trees should be repotted before April 1st.

For nutrient boost, Fredi and I decided to submit a boost of nutrients (probably liquid) to an additional set of Spring and Fall warming replicates. Therefore, this treatment will have 30 replicates. It is only at the end of the growing season that 15 of them will be boosted with nutrients. ... On another subject, I will only be coming to Vancouver around April 20, as I plan on taking some time off before summer work since I will be finishing my bachelor's in April. Therefore, I was wondering if it would be possible to delegate the first tasks to our colleagues. While discussing with Fredi, we realized it would be hard to plan all of this while neither of us was there. I suggested (and I believe it would be possible with my school) to come to Vancouver for 5-7 days in February to organize everything.
