@christophe-rd @lizzieinvancouver

I thought it's a good idea to keep dendrometer issues updated here.

I just had a call with the folks from OSU. Jordan gives the lead to Nick, who seems to be a capable software developer. They are aware of all issues and will mainly work on the timeshift problem, preferable with a software update so that we don't face additional costs (e.g. during the upload universal time is picked up from a server and attached to the data). We agreed that they aim for February to solve it. They are aware that we will need them 1. April to be working! Here is his contact: Nick: leni@oregonstate.edu and to complete Chet (who runs the lab): udellc@oregonstate.edu

Adam and myself developed the 3-spring design using a 3D printer. We just had a meeting to check the variability of the prints. Looks good. First batch will be ready next week and I can still instruct Sylvia and Dajeong on how to assemble.

I explored with Adam also the possibility to charge the devices with a contact-less charging device. They work, but after calculating all prices and weighting the benifits we decided to drop this idea again. Ca. 800CAD to equip all devices with 5 chargers. I guess we still have to charge them the way we did this year. Upgrading with Lora would be the way to go (consumes much less energy) but this is another issue and quite costly.
