App fails to render when connection isn't active

If you have a connection, and for whatever reason it fails to connect, the API doesn't serve the UI. It makes the tool rather useless

[ ] Add a check mark in the connection creation for the ability to auto connect to this new connection
[ ] Gracefully handle the attempt to connect to an unavailable connection
