Calendar doesn't have preferred 'Week starts on:' day

I've got G/Cal set up to show my week starting on a Monday; however, the 
Calendar Gadget starts on a Sunday.

Shame it can't pick up my setting...

I don't think there is any way to get this information using the GDATA API.

And yet it presumably (hopefully!) picks up my other settings, eg date/time 
format,
time zone, etc.?
