I experienced an issue where their EC2 instance went down for unspecified reasons and needed guidance on how to bring back up the Chroma environment. I took a snapshot of the attached volume and am interested in restoring the AWS deployment using this snapshot.
Context:
The user utilized Chroma version 0.4.12.
A snapshot was taken of the volume attached to the instance.
The user tried using terraform apply -target=aws_instance.chroma_instance to bring down and back up the EC2 without destroying the attached volume.
The user mentioned facing challenges and is looking for a more efficient solution for re-deployment using the snapshot.
Describe the proposed solution
Requirements:
Feature for Snapshot-based Restoration:
Add support for restoring AWS deployment from a snapshot, specifically allowing the use of a snapshot ID to base the volume on.
Disable the formatting of the volume during this restoration.
Documentation & Guide:
Provide comprehensive documentation or a guide to facilitate users in restoring the service back online using snapshots.
