First, if you want to support Ubuntu/Linux/etc., we need to make sure the "Server" sub-project of VsChromium is portable across platforms. This probably means switching from ".NET Framework" to ".NET Core". I have no idea how difficult this would be.

Second, if you want this to be efficient, you need the "Server" to be some sort of "daemon" so that the index can persist in memory between invocations of the "grep" replacement. The first invocation will be pretty much as slow as grep (probably faster on SSDs, since the Server uses multi-threading heavily, and grep does not as far as I know).

Third, you would need to write a command line client for the "Server" daemon. This would also need to be done using ".NET Core" if you want multi-platform support. The good news is that the protocol the Server uses is based on protobuf, so you could write the client in any programming language really.
I use this plugin for 4 years and it's so cool. I think it uses a lots for great data structures. So I want to use this in ubuntu or any other platform, Can I get the codes and compile into other platforms? use like a grep but with caches? I think it's so cool for this feature.
