The vast majority of what I scan is US Letter, but the default scan size is larger. The edges are "obvious" to a human, in particular the heavy line that is the bottom of the page. Seems like it should be easy to detect a heavy line right around 11" with nothing useful below it.
Snapping a cam-scanned document to a known page size it's close to will probably help with aspect repairs more often than it hurts. It's worth playing around with to see if I can find a useful snap threshold.
