Nevermind about that. After playing with it all day, I think the issue was that the package firmware-realtek had a driver (that doesn't work) that took precedence over this one. After removing firmware-realtek, this driver worked. I will need to look into how to instruct the kernel to prefer a certain module over another; I've never messed with that before. I suspect it is a simple matter of blacklisting the driver in firmware-realtek.
I have tried to get this module to work on two machines, one is running Debian stable, the other Debian testing. Both are using NetworkManager.
I tried both machines in pretty close proximity to my access point, about 6m away. My access point is a Ubiquiti Unifi AP AC. I have yet to check the logs on it.
I first tried this wifi card, and got it to connect exactly 1 time on the Debian testing machine, then never again. I was wondering if one of the radios in it died, so I also bought this one. I have never got it to connect.
I used the USB 3.0 ports on both machines when trying the cards.
These are logs are from the 2nd WiFi card I mentioned. Here is the device enumerating when I plug it in:
Here it is trying to connect:
It is unable to connect, and then prompts me to enter my WPA2 passphrase again, as though I typed it wrong. It does it ad infinitum.
