CKAN is an open-source DMS (data management system) for powering data hubs and data portals. CKAN makes it easy to publish, share and use data. It powers datahub.io, catalog.data.gov and europeandataportal.eu/data/en/dataset among many other sites.
feedback from Anne-Sophie on representing harvest organizations in the ckan gui.
Can we better illustrate the harvest source (logo? tag?) and clearly indicate that the data comes from an existing, external data repository?
[x] Add a 'Harvested From' field to dataset pages. This should include the organization logo, title, and a link where available
Could we better indicate the standards applied by this harvest source, if any? if none, how can we illustrate that this data is not standardized? raw data tag?
[x] Add 'unverified' or 'external catalogue source flag' to the harvester config
Is there a way to find the data owner's logo and showcase it? Description? Website? (See screenshot below - I know this is the same on cioos.ca when harvesting regional datasets, no logo appears but I find it not ideal)
[ ] Look into ways to populate organization and responsible organization logos
Are these harvested datasets included automatically in the search results or should we add the option to add harvest sources in our search query (something like advanced search options)
Yes search results are included. The facets/search fields are additive however do not allow for some query types such as looking for data from multiple eov's. This would be a lot of effort to change, however. no action planned.
