Mapping between form and different metadata standards #296

Issue

The metadata entry form is our primary tool to ingest from a user the different metadata associated with a metadata record and associated resources and datasets.

This tool then generates number of different outputs associated to different metadata standards. Among these:

Moving between the different standards can be a little overwhelming.

Solution

In order to help visualize the different relationships it would great to have all those different mappings shown within one or more tables if needed.

This table could also perhaps been use execute the mapping to the different standards

I thought I generated already an issue related to this but can't find it anywhere for some reasons.

Here's a resource Foster found with a lot of mappings already done. Maybe could build off this or visualize or formalize somehow? https://drive.google.com/open?id=1P6WH8h4OnIVR9UJj3FcOebNUpLnKNBCuvEp3NsLRho4 is from https://www.rd-alliance.org/groups/research-metadata-schemas-wg

I was exploring the metadata crosswalk from Research Data Alliance a bit more and found this webpage that summarizes the above google sheet.

https://rd-alliance.github.io/Research-Metadata-Schemas-WG/

I particularly like the Sankey diagram to show how each schema.org property maps to the various metadata elements from different profiles.

The RDA crosswalks include ISO 19115-1, but not ISO19115-2:2019 like we've modified in for use in CIOOS.

Their mappings are still very helpful as we encode our own into the metadata intake tool, but we may want to start our own table of mappnigs, and ultimately a nice sankey diagram and some filterable tables
