Finally got everything to work! At first I had trouble because I accidentally changed files in the wrong local branch. But, as you said, I wasn't actually able to push them, so that told me something was wrong. I think I also accidentally pushed a new iteration.md file. It's only slightly different than the .Rmarkdown file, though I know you only need the source code. Hope I did everything right.
