flexdashboard - I think the number of inputs is just about right. If you added more, it might get too cluttered in the sidebar
- Great use of
renderDataTable()to add the sortable table of values. Using a desktop to view the app, there's plenty of room for this. On smaller screens, implementingggplotly()or a similar interactive graph with tooltips identifying the actual values would probably be a better usage of screen real estate. Of course that assumes you getggplotly()to do its damn job - Though in the data table, think about significant digits. Do we really need to see the values out to the 9th decimal place? Round them to maybe 2 or 3 digits. Also, you plot them as percentages yet the raw values are scaled [0,1]. Better to convert them in the data table as well to match the visuals. You could apply
scales::percent()to the columns to convert them to percentages inside of the reactive objects and not modify permanently the underlying data frames

I had to use the Gapminder dataset since my own data wasn't ready yet, but it was nice to get hands on with Flexdashboard. I'll be on the lookout for my traditional documentation as it seems like a very useful tool to use in the future for the final project.
Felt like using Gapminder really pushed me to use a non-linear structure for my visualization. Flexdashboard is powerful though. Cool.
