This assignment was a challenge! I did not get to create the visual I originally intended, but I was still able to make something that told an interesting story about the fertility data from the gapminder dataset.

• Alas, one of the weaknesses of plotly - generating interactive maps. leaflet might have worked out better, though I think its choropleths leave something to be desired. Building it natively using the plot_ly() function rather than ggplotly() could also have allowed you to preserve the projection.
• That said, the visualization is a bit novice. I would have liked to seen additional elements here. Things that could have improved the graph or shown more skills:
  • Continuous vs. discrete bins for countries, or at least a justification for why you chose this specific cutting approach
  • Clean up the tool tip text so it says something like "Fertility rate", not just Fert_cut
  • Remove the gridlines from the graph. It's a map, do we need the latitude and longitude projected here? We are not attempting to navigate the seas. Especially with the tooltips, we can quickly identify the exact country so the gridlines add more clutter
