Keywords JavaScript, React, Spotify API, Spotify Playback, Node.js

Project Abstract

What the product does and how it does it from a user point of view – at a high level. (You can include screenshot mockup of the interface)

This document proposes an application that allows users to join a collective playlist that is in current use. This playlist is joined by a password and the app will allow users so add songs to the playlist. Users can also up and downvote songs to play on this queue. Along with this ratings can be given to users and the app will also collect data on the types of songs a user recommends and give back awards to the users at the end of the session.

High Level Requirement

Describe the requirements – i.e., what the product does and how it does it from a user point of view – at a high level.

Conceptual Design

This app would require the use of react, JavaScript, Json, and html. Also, it would incorporate Sportify’s Web API and Web Playback. Node.js would be used for its server.

Background

This is not a project that I have seen before and will be mostly from scratch mostly only using Spotifys play back and api examples. The ability to have many people on the playlist at one time and actively updating playlist while it is in use is one thing that will make it unique. As well as gather stats on the songs played and providing leader boards and personal awards at the end of the session make it unique.

Required Resources

This project will just require use and understanding of javascript, react, spofity api, and spotify playback.

this project stands out to me because I am a music lover and I think it kinda goes with mine as well!!! Plus I would for real use this project. I think there is room for this to not only be a really convenient project, but also a fun little game. I really like how you had leaderboards. Not only are you getting a good time, but also fun awards for maybe best music, most upvotes etc. I think it would be a great way to really learn how to integrate APIs and also understanding how something can work collaboratively in one platform. I also can help with the UI and UX compenents which I have some experience with and React as well. I think one thing we would have to work with is the spotify api and playback. However I think it will be a really cool project.

I like this project because it is something that I would use outside of the class. I really like to listen to music, especially with others, and although I have Spotify and use its Blend feature, the feature can be buggy and is sometimes hard to navigate. I think this would be a fun opportunity to use Spotify's API and to learn what features you can develop with it. I can help with the design part as well as some of the backend. I also know Spotify's app thoroughly so I can help with any questions or issues related to that. This would be a really cool project to work on.

i like this project because it is not large of a scope and adds something social to the spotify experience which is something I always thought was missing potential. I like the idea of social software.

I have experience with React and Next.js, which is a framework of React I would recommend for this project due to its ease of use and API routes which make it easy to create API calls to Spotify. I also have experience with Node.js, JS, JSON, HTML, CSS, etc. Finally, I am pretty good at UI/UX and could design the user interface in Figma.

I don't really have many new ideas. Maybe include a blacklist of artists, songs, albums, etc. that the host does not want to hear. Also, it would be cool to save the queue to a playlist at the end of the night so it can be played back later. Maybe also would be cool to load a queue from an existing playlist.
