Nvidia updated their App (former Geforce Experience -> Nvidia App now) which came along with a new Game Filter called "RTX Color Adjustment" (not sure if Filter Name 100% correct, in german it is "RTX Farbanpassung"). If you apply that Filter on your Game (in this case FiveM), the FIveM client will try to start but crash while initiliziation is working on File Verification on Startup. It will crash and provide the following Error in the Windows Event Log:
exception code: 0xc0000005error offset: 0x0000000000041d9ePath to faulty Application: C:\Users\[USER PROFILE]\AppData\Local\FiveM\FiveM.exePath to faulty Module: C:Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_dispig.inf_amd64_68918350ef3cc579\nvppex.dll
The current workaround is to disable the Game Filter in the Nvidia App to make the Client start without errors. I already contacted Nvidia about this case but I am not sure which side is responsible for that crash so I want to let the FiveM team know as well as the Nvidia team to investigate this.
Expected result
Create a compatibility between the FiveM Client and the Nvidia Game Filters so the Client can be started with Game Filters
Reproduction steps
Install FiveM client
Install Nvidia App (should require a modern Nvidia Graphics Card, in my case a RTX 3080) (no login required)
Start the FiveM Client first time to make sure it starts without errors for now, when started and ready to play (DO NOT CLOSE)
start Nvidia App simoultaneously and bring up the Overlay by pressing ALT + Z (not sure if different hotkey in other regions)
Navigate to Game Filters inside the Overlay
Apply the Filter "RTX Color Adjustment) ("RTX Farbanpassung" in german) (required a RTX Graphics Card)
Close the Overlay and close the FiveM Client
(optional: restart system)
start the FiveM client
Now it should crash while start. This might not happen in first moment, it happend to me after couple times of starting the Client
Importancy
Crash
Area(s)
FiveM
Specific version(s)
FiveM 7726, Windows 10 22H2 (19045.4046), Graphics Drivers: 551.46 from Jan 24, 2024
Additional information
I already contacted the Nvidia Support about this as well by filling out the feedback form inside the Nvidia App so I won't receive informations back, I just could let them know about this issue so they can investigate as well if they have to provide compatibility interfaces aswell.
