The versions of facilitated dependencies (i.e. Elasticsearch itself and most/all other components) are currently hard coded and therefore spread all over the instrumentation, which defeats documentation and maintenance in general and testing/upgrading different versions in particular.
They should be pulled out towards a canonical definition on the top of each script at the very least, but actually be defined and passed externally, e.g. via a dedicated config file or embedded into the build script - as such this details #293.
