Fix Marvel not accounting for auto scaled nodes #362

Closed sopel closed 10 years ago

sopel commented 10 years ago

Apparently Marvel doesn't automatically detect new nodes right now, or the node configuration is hardwired in some way still - either way the auto scaled daytime nodes aren't reported in marvel, whereas they show up just fine in ElasticHQ.

Marvel itself properly reports all nodes in fact, just the 'Nodes' panel in the overview dashboard doesn't, I must be missing something here?!

Hmmh, looking closer, the daytime nodes do not show up in our Librato dashboards either, even though they are up and running and properly tagged from an EC2 PoV - I'll wait for a comment/assessment by @dpb587 before digging further.

Marvel needs to be installed on every instance and it's not currently in our post-provision script to do so. The daytime nodes also make us reach the max license-allowed nodes of 5.

Regarding Librato, I did a post-commit patch and forgot to update the daytime commit parameter.

This issue is assigned to me and, after reviewing it, I'm closing it because a solution was defined, but the problem or solution is no longer applicable since migrating to logsearch/logsearch-boshrelease.
