This may cause issues with future upstream merges. Also, because it's not writing the modified config back, we'd need to keep this patch around indefinitely.
Would it be better to create a one-off script which pulls all our dashboards, parses the JSON, updates the histogram config if necessary, then writes back the updated dashboard?
Agreed; if fact, I think I'm just going to use this build to run through all the dashboards; saving the results, and then never actually merging
