why isn't the dataset of datasets public? #9

we were wondering about this last week as we published our first set of behind-the-scenes analytics to data.world.

on our data portal, we want the public to be able to access a data table that has a summary of all of our open data resources.... the socrata team created a table earlier this year but it's been restricted to just admins.

well, no need to worry, because now the dataset of datasets will be made public! Per email received today from Socrata:

Hi Austin Team,

We are excited to announce that with the most recent updates to the Socrata Asset Inventory dataset, your version of the Asset Inventory has moved out of pre-release, and has a new link. You can access your new Asset Inventory here: https://data.austintexas.gov/dataset/Asset-Inventory/2sxp-qq9w

Your pre-release version is still available at the previous link here: https://data.austintexas.gov/dataset/-Prerelease-Dataset-of-Datasets-Template-dataset/xv64-pyzh

There are a couple of differences that are important to note that lead to a higher number of assets than you saw previously: The new Asset Inventory includes dataset snapshots, which are indicated by the Publication Stage field as "snapshotted" The new Asset Inventory includes all views regardless of their status in View Moderation, if you have that feature enabled

To reduce future confusion over multiple versions of the Asset Inventory, we will be deleting your old pre-release version in three weeks. Prior doing that, we noticed that you have the following view created off your dataset that you may want to re-create on your new one: https://data.austintexas.gov/dataset/-Prerelease-Dataset-of-Datasets-Template-dataset/hhkf-nx9d
