it does have a GUI tho
Thanks for the assist @Suleman-Elahi , but I think the ask was for no GUI at all.
@caspertone2003 , I'll see what I can do when time permits. Unfortunately, this project doesn't see many updates since it currently meets the needs of our staff.
Thanks anyhow! Yes, I am interested in a no gui version...
@dangowans by the way, i started to use pdfFlatenner because I was searching for a good tool to compress (ie reduce size) of PDF. By that time, I did not fully understand the main purpose of the tool, that is, to press all layers into one layer so that redaction can not be undone. I do not have the background to understand why flattening reduces file size, but it is quite efficient and, subject to finding proper DPI values, output quality is super.
I think it would be interesting to add to the sw description its ability to reduce pdf size.
On the other hand, DPI use is ackward. I so use of DPI and quality in for example imagemagick as well as in ghostcript, but I am not sure what is really the DPI effect on your sw, and I was unable to find it in PDF Box site... seems the learnig curve is very steep
I must recognize that I am unable to understand both in imagemagick and here how DPI relates to image quality. But compression with low DPI produces low image quality, while high DPI produces better quality with high file size ... Some people point that DPI states how big is your image not how much detail is there.
Resuming... a) Perhaps adding the PDF file size reduction effect to the main doc? b) Any hint on DPI selection?
TIA again CT
I would highly appreciate a version that could be used purely from command line, no GUI. Input file name and DPI would be only paramenters in. Default output file name: proposed = input_flattened.pdf Proposed switch; /O:outputfilename
Thanks in advance!! CT
