I just tried to get started with this, and am a bit confused about how it interacts with G+. According to the instructions I should get an option to tell G+ what circles that I want to allow sp.n to see the membership lists of, but I can't find that.
I think this is so that I can control what papers I see when I visit the sp.net site, is that right?
On my sp.net account page, I noticed that the "Your subscriptions" list includes people from all of my circles, but the instructions describe that I should be able to create a special circle called "Research" for this purpose.
In the G+ settings screen, under "manage apps and activities", I see that I can control "Who can see that you've signed in to Selected Papers Network", and it was set to "your circles". I changed it to "only you", and it had no effect on my sp.net "your subcriptions" list. I wouldn't have expected it to: this seems to be the complementary permission setting (i.e. what G+ can see from sp.net, rather than what sp.net can see from G+).
[Should I post these kinds of questions in the open science G+ group? I just checked there for the #spnetwork tag, and only saw one discussion, so I thought I'd have better luck here.]
