I've applied for one Open Source software award http://www.ossaward.org/

We should identify additional funding opportunities and apply.

Seconding that --- the Sloan Digital Library people should be really excited about this. Contact François Dorais, who successfully arranged a grant from them for MathOverflow. He can put you in touch with the right people.

Sloan is a definite possibility, especially for small grants related to one-time costs near the end of the calendar year. @semorrison this is one of the reasons to get MO to be a 501(c)(3), we will then be able to support small grants like this without the bureaucratic hurdles of university grant managers.
