This pr represents a significant step in the backend functionality. To further improve this functionality we need to do a few things:

Integrate this functionality with the frontend
create new AJAX requests that hit the newly defined endpoints for the other data that needs to be dynamically generated (hint code).
migration script will need to be updated, so as to include corresponding database columns.
