From everything I can tell, it looks like this error typically revolves around compatibility issues with python2 and python3. I'm running ckan 2.8, which should be compatible.

pip install -e git+https://github.com/ckan/ckanext-googleanalytics.git#egg=ckanext-googleanalytics
DEPRECATION: Python 2.7 reached the end of its life on January 1st, 2020. Please upgrade your Python as Python 2.7 is no longer maintained. pip 21.0 will drop support for Python 2.7 in January 2021. More details about Python 2 support in pip, can be found at https://pip.pypa.io/en/latest/development/release-process/#python-2-support

Can you share your versions of pip and setuptools?

michael-long88 commented 3 years ago

pip 20.1.1 setuptools 36.1.0

guibos commented 3 years ago

I have the same issue. I upgraded setuptools, and succesfully installed package, but I need to test.

Conzar commented 2 years ago

I am also having this issue on CKAN 2.8.
