It should be possible for user to build curated lists of datasets they find interesting, sort of a pinboard for datasets. This will make it possible to share those lists and provide extra information around them, and how they might be used together. Sort of like storify for CKAN. On CKAN instances with lots of datasets it is often hard to find and keep track of related datasets that might be useful together.

I have seen demand for a feature like for from multiple sources.

This is an interesting feature that'd help with crossing data from different sources to create better apps. Thumbs up.

Would we be looking at an aggregator/comparison tool, or just indexing?

Give me dataset X from instance A, and dataset Y from instance B?

I think initially I'd leave cross-site aggregation to other tools, I was thinking more of a per-instance https://delicious.com/ that was specifically tailored for listing and grouping datasets. Anything else could/should be achievable via the API, for instance writing a storify 'source', or import/export to wordpress (or whatever).

My use-case really is:

As a researcher looking for data on data.gov.uk, I want to be able to add selected datasets to named lists so that I: a. Don't lose track of them (acts like a bookmark). b. Can easily share with others (via a link), I could email/tweet/g+ my friend/colleague c. Can bulk download all of the data (acts like a shopping basket).

I think the named lists are important as they would act differently for different people but allow them to group 'projects' together. I'd certainly have several lists.
