An empty to-do list item gets mangled

The fact is that GitHub itself doesn't allow empty todo list items. You have the same results if you try that with markdown directly.

I'm wondering if it is worth to try to find a solution for this case (e.g. adding a   to the list item in such case)... or we just let it be.
