handles for Oxford Text Archive (OTA) are broken #5

Open kreetrapper opened 7 months ago

kreetrapper commented 7 months ago

The Oxford Text Archive has changed their repository system and as a result their old PIDs no longer work.

Example: http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12024/2561

There is a 1:1 mapping to their new handle server.

Example: http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.14106/2561

The change has happened at the end of 2023 (first mail exchange on this topic starts at 11 December), but while Martin Wynne has promised to implement a redirect from the old to the new handles, so far this has not happened yet.

sent a reminder about this to Martin Wynne today

Forgot to add this reply from Martin (which came the same day):

we asked for a new VM to host the handle server in September last year, and we're still waiting for it to be set up.

The metadata records in the VLO use the new prefix. Not sure if that resolves the issue as far as we're concerned?

I also changed them in the CRF. But I think the issue is that the old handles are no longer resolving, and hence not "persistent".

Not strictly a metadata curation issue then but I agree that it would be good to keep it documented until resolved.
