One issue I found is that it does not work in any resolution on Safari.

I have never had issues with Safari. Most of the issues in the past have been with older versions of IE which AFAIK have been resolved.

What version of Safari and ImageMap are you using?

Are there any console errors?

Can you confirm that https://www.travismclarke.com/imagemap/ does not work or provide a hosted example?
