Besides the diagonal electrical conduit, there is also electrical (probably not water) above the existing duct run that we wish to expand. Hence, on Monday, when that duct comes down, we have a small window where our electricians could go remove that. Cleaning up that electrical spider web as needed and doing exposed recessed lighting seems lovely.
