TIMELINE. IE reports "null is null or no object" even though everything works fine #240

In Internet Explorer, the timeline loads correctly and can be used fully
(but the setLayout issue), but IE still reports a JavaScript error: "
'null' is null or no object ". Can this error be fixed? How can I figure
out where it originates?

Sorry, this was a result from copying some of the "religion" code which
contains an additional reference to "controls". This is what caused the
error. The script itself works fine.
